Our Mission
The mission of The Essence Ambassadors is to empower high school scholars from city communities by providing exposure to college, career pathways, community engagement, and travel experiences that broaden their vision for the future.
Through mentorship, academic support, and culturally responsive guidance, we support scholars in achieving academic success while also partnering with families throughout the college application process. Our team of educators, social workers, and youth advocates is committed to creating a safe, supportive space where scholars feel heard, valued, and inspired to grow into confident leaders and change-makers.
Our Vision
What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. We are the vision of The Essence Ambassadors. We cultivate a generation of informed, confident, and purpose-driven scholars who are prepared to succeed in college, career, and life while making a positive impact in their communities.
We envision scholars who are empowered to dream beyond their circumstances, advocate for themselves and others, and walk boldly into opportunities that once felt out of reach of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead. What sets us apart isn’t just our process—it’s the intention behind it. We take time to understand, explore, and create with purpose at every turn.
Founder’s Message
The Essence Ambassadors was created out of a deep belief that every scholar deserves access, support, and opportunity—regardless of their background or zip code.
As educators, social workers, deans, and restorative justice practitioners, we have spent years working closely with students and families within the NYC school system. We have witnessed firsthand the challenges that many city scholars face during adolescence—academic pressure, limited exposure to college and career pathways, and a lack of guidance during one of the most critical seasons of their lives. We have also witnessed their brilliance, resilience, and untapped potential.
The Essence Ambassadors exists to bridge that gap.
Our program is designed to expose scholars to college campuses, career possibilities, community leadership, and travel experiences that expand their vision for what is possible. Just as importantly, we provide consistent academic and emotional support to help scholars succeed in school while guiding families through the often overwhelming college application process.
We are more than a program—we are a safe space. A place where scholars can ask questions, be heard, build confidence, and develop the tools needed to navigate life beyond high school. Our team is committed to walking alongside scholars during a pivotal stage of their adolescence, offering mentorship, accountability, and encouragement every step of the way.
